| 1. The Jade Emperor lives up in heaven, and he is
the most powerful of all beings in that world. He can send immortals
down to earth to inspect and manage the common people. Once, he sent an
immortal down with this instruction, "You go down to earth and tell the
common people that they are to eat one meal every three days. Every
three days they can only eat once."

| 2. However, when the immortal came down, what did
he say? He instructed the people to eat three meals a day, not counting
snacks. From that time till now, all of us have been doing just that,
eating three meals a day, with additional snacks.

| 3. When the immortal returned to heaven, the Jade
Emperor asked, "What did you say to the people?"
