| 1. Long ago, there was a rich landlord whom
everyone called "Three Pounds Six." How did he get this nickname?
Here's the story.

| 2. Every year, this rich landlord would hire
servants to work for him, some working for the whole year. When Lunar
New Year's Eve arrived, he would set some hard tasks for them to do.
Whoever could not perform the tasks satisfactorily would not be paid
the year's wages. Many people who worked for him were cheated. Later
there was a young man who also went to work for him. As Lunar New
Year's Eve approached, he thought of a way to get back at the landlord.

| 3. That year, the landlord put up a notice,
asking people to work for him and promising high wages, several times
more than other landlords. One young man thought it over, and decided
to have a go at the landlord.
