| 1. Long ago, there was an old man who had two
sons. His wife passed away, leaving him to raise them by himself. The
older son was clever and crafty, while the younger was simple-minded
and honest. After some time, the old man passed away too, leaving them
as orphans.

| 2. After the father had died, the older brother
said "Younger brother, come here and let's have a talk. At the time
when our father was dying, he instructed us to live together. However,
after lots of thought, I think it is still better for us to live
separately." The younger brother replied, "Older brother, since our
father has died, you are now like my father. I'll listen to your
advice."

| 3. Now the older brother was crafty like a fox.
He said, "On the day when we decide who will have the buffalo, whoever
each buffalo follows shall be its owner." When the day came, he cut a
handful of fresh green grass and held it in his hand, so the 3 buffalo
naturally followed him. Thus, the older brother got hold of all 3
buffalo.
